RISE: Developing Future Leaders in Academic Medicine & Science

The AAMC created RISE: Developing Future Leaders in Academic Medicine & Science with the goal of helping students build leadership skills and knowledge that are vital to their journeys as medical students, residents, and their futures as physician leaders. The AAMC now offers two distinct programs for medical students at different stages in their journey:
  • RISE: Developing Future Leaders in Academic Medicine & Science for Rising Second Year Medical Students
  • RISE: Developing Future Leaders in Academic Medicine & Science for Fourth Year Medical Students
 

Who Should Attend?

Student leaders who demonstrate a willingness and ability to positively impact the culture and/or learning environment at their institution. Example nominees could include, but are not limited to:
  • Class officers
  • Student interest group officers
  • Peer mentors
  • Student advocates
  • Students involved in community service 
  • AAMC Organization of Student Representatives (OSR)
