RISE: Developing Future Leaders in Academic Medicine & Science

The AAMC created RISE: Developing Future Leaders in Academic Medicine & Science with the goal of helping students build leadership skills and knowledge that are vital to both their journey as a medical student, resident, and their future as a physician leader. The AAMC now offers two distinct programs for medical students at different stages in their journey:
  • RISE: Developing Future Leaders in Academic Medicine & Science for Rising Second Year Medical Students
  • RISE: Developing Future Leaders in Academic Medicine & Science for Fourth Year Medical Students
 

Who Should Attend?

Student leaders who demonstrate a willingness and ability to positively impact the culture and/or learning environment at your institution. Example nominees could include, but are not limited to:
  • Class officers
  • Student interest group officers
  • Peer mentors
  • Student advocates
  • Students involved in community service 
  • AAMC Organization of Student Representatives (OSR)

RISE: Developing Future Leaders in Academic Medicine & Science for Second Year Medical Students (MS2):

The 2026 program will be held in June 2026. Stay tuned for upcoming dates and announcements.
